Issue Summary
Since January 2025, I have reset this machine over a dozen times, performed every possible diagnostic, and ruled out all hardware-related causes. HP has even warrantied an entirely new device, confirming the issue is NOT hardware-related but an OS-level failure within Windows Home.
🚨 Windows reinstates a broken environment within 24 hours—forcing outdated INF drivers, degrading performance, and blocking manual updates. 🚨 Frequent system crashes, screen locks, and unpredictable instability—nothing is consistent, making troubleshooting impossible. 🚨 This issue persists even after a clean cloud install—Windows NT-based drivers override OEM drivers and force system degradation. 🚨 Microsoft Support has failed to provide a fix despite hours spent troubleshooting—this is not a configuration issue, but a deeper system failure. 🚨 System appears to have self-preservation mechanisms preventing changes or corrections to its broken state.
If first-line support cannot fix this, escalate this to an actual Microsoft engineer immediately.
1. Windows Update Failures
Key Errors Identified
Repeated 80070032 errors (networkcostmgr.cpp @359) – Windows is incorrectly flagging metered connections, blocking updates.
80248014 metadata corruption – Windows cannot verify updates, leading to repeated failures.
80070057 registry inconsistencies – Misconfigured system parameters preventing correct update behavior.
Persistent cryptographic errors (800B0109) – Authentication failures, suggesting certificate corruption.
Logs confirm datastore corruption (JetAttachDatabase failed)—Windows Update cannot track update history correctly.
Failed Fixes Attempted

Despite all these efforts, Windows reinstates the same broken environment within 24 hours after a fresh reset—this issue is within the OS itself.
2. Forced Driver Rollbacks, System Degradation & Stability Failures
Key Symptoms
Windows forcibly replaces nearly all drivers with outdated 06/21/06 versions, blocking manual updates.
SSD and HDD controllers are overwritten, causing significant performance degradation.
Windows NT-based drivers override OEM drivers—even after a fresh cloud install.
System experiences constant instability—screen locks, unpredictable crashes, and inconsistent failures.
Microsoft support has failed to resolve this, despite repeated escalations.
