A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Hi, this happens when the account only has "Authenticator notification" as the MFA method: you're stuck in a loop because it asks you for the notification to log in, but it never arrives. To unlock it, in order: 1) If you still have the app set up, open Microsoft Authenticator, tap the account, and use Verification Code (6-digit TOTP) instead of the notification; if the page says "Approve request," look for "I can't use the app / Sign in another way" and choose "Enter a code from the app." 2) If you don't see any alternatives or the app doesn't display any codes, your administrator will need to issue a Temporary Access Pass (TAP) for bootstrapping, or reset the MFA methods/force re-registration and verify that at least two methods are enabled in Authentication Methods (Authenticator code, SMS/voice, FIDO2/passkey), not just the notification. 3) If it's a personal Microsoft account, start the recovery process from aka.ms/recoveraccount; Without registered methods, it's the only way. 4) Quick checks on your phone: automatic time, notifications enabled for Authenticator, no battery saver blocking push notifications, try a different network/VPN off. 5) After logging in, add a second method, download the recovery codes, and set "Code from app" as the default (more reliable than notifications alone).
