I've only had my PC for 5 months, so why am I being asked to install PowerShell especially when I don't know anything about installing from the windows environment. The image below pops up every time I log on.

    Hi, good day!

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

When it says, “Install the latest PowerShell for new features and improvements”, it just means Microsoft isn’t adding anything new to Windows PowerShell 5.1 anymore. That version only gets security fixes. All new features, performance improvements, and bug fixes will be in the newer PowerShell (currently 7.5) offered by that message.

Please try the following methods below.

    • Please try to scan your computer for any virus or malware.

Please try to scan your system using Microsoft Safety Scanner or the free edition of Malwarebytes.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner

    • Please try to check your startup folders

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type:

    shell:startup

Hit Enter. Look for PowerShell then delete it

    • Open Task Manager

    Select Startup apps

    Find and select PowerShell

Right click it then select Disable

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.
