Windows 11 Version 24H2

I am constantly having problems with my PC locking up (and sometimes black screen flashes and BSOD), this is AFTER a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2 was carried out about a month ago.

When i asked this question a week or so ago, i shared a minidump file (from C:\Windows\Minidump as requested) and was informed that it was relating to an NVidia graphics card driver. I was asked to remove the driver in safe mode using the DDU tool and reinstall the driver from the HP website. Lockups continued after i completed this.

I have run diagnostics on my PC and everything passes, so i am ruling out hardware failure which leaves software!

I sent several messages to my previous post, which have been ignored, so i am opening up a new post in the hope that somebody will now see this problem through to the end instead of leaving me with a PC that was even more unstable to the point that i now can't get into Windows at all, probably due to boot file corruption due to me constantly having to switch off my PC and reboot.

When i google Windows 11 version 24H2, i see so many reports of it being unstable, causing other users lockups too, to the point that they have downgraded back to 23H2. As it looks like i may have to reinstall Windows AGAIN, where can i find a version of 23H2 because i now see from Google that 23H2 was removed from the Microsoft website and the Media Creation Tool only allows you to download 24H2.

How can Microsoft be so irresponsible by allowing users to only download an unstable version of Windows (24H2) and removing a good working version (23H2). More to the point, 24H2 was released in October 2024 so why has it taken almost 12 months to repair all the bugs that are still existing in 24H2?!!!

I work from home, using my PC throughout the day so need this problem resolved urgently!!!

@Palcouk The graphics driver was updated from HP website, the link that the Advisor posted in his reply to my original message, so that is unlikely to be me updating drivers from wrong sources.

I didn't make a mistake by selecting "get latest updates" - that option is switched off

The end of each day, my computer is always shut down.

I never update drivers from Device Manager.

Diagnostics from BIOS and the HP Diagnostic Tool have both been run with everything passing, which led me to believe the fault is down to software issues. With there being several reports of Windows 11 24H2 still being unstable, with various "fixes" still not being completed, there is a strong possibility that Windows is the problem.

I have completed another fresh install of Windows 11 24H2 from a USB Media Creation Tool, but i am not convinced it is going to resolve the problem.

Likely cause being you updating drivers fro wrong sources.

Win11 by default only installs critical security updates, unless you made the mistake of selecting “Get latest updates” which includes drivers.

See your laptop/PC makers support to update both bios and makers drivers.

There should be a shortcut to that makers update utility on your system.

Then set Bios to defaults & Pwr to balanced. At the end of the day shutdown, do not leave in sleep.

Do NOT update from any other source inc Device Manager

You only need to set the Advanced options for notify & Time, then leave win update to do its own thing.

I addition does HP support site for your model feature a diagnostics tool?
