Hereโs a clear, step-by-step guide based on the official Microsoft Learn documentation for getting started with Unity Catalog on Azure Databricks, even if youโre using an Azure free trial:
Prerequisites

- You can use an Azure Free Trial (includes $200 credit for 30 days).
- Sign up at Azure Free Trial.
Azure Databricks Workspace
- Create a workspace in your subscription.
- Choose Premium or Trial tier
Azure Active Directory (AAD)
- Unity Catalog uses AAD for identity and access management.
- Ensure you have Global Admin or User Admin permissions to configure service principals.
