    Hi,

You’ve encountered a tech support scam. The pop-up and phone call were fake Microsoft never asks you to call a number to fix your PC. Their goal is usually to steal your money or personal data.

Here’s what you need to do immediately:

Stop all contact – Hang up and don’t call back.

Secure your PC – Disconnect from the internet, remove any remote access apps, and run a full antivirus scan.

Protect your banking – Contact your bank right away, change passwords, and enable two-factor authentication.

Report the scam – Report to Microsoft and local cybercrime authorities.

    I hope this helps!

If you've interacted with a potential scammer who claimed to be from Microsoft and it has affected your banking, here are some steps you should take:

    1. Uninstall any applications that the scammers asked you to install.
    2. Run a full scan with Microsoft Defender Antivirus to check for any malware that may have been installed on your device.
    3. Change your passwords for any accounts that may be compromised, especially banking and financial accounts.
    4. Monitor your bank accounts for any unauthorized transactions and report them to your bank immediately.
    5. Consider resetting your device to a factory state if you suspect that it has been compromised.
    6. Contact your bank or financial institutions to inform them of the situation and seek their guidance on protecting your accounts.
    7. Report the scam to Microsoft at www.microsoft.com/reportascam and any other relevant authorities.

It's crucial to act quickly to mitigate any potential damage from the scam.
