hello,

i tried to add my email to my MacBook. after 1 hour finally i was able to do it through changing my password. once i tried to update my password into my iPhone i was unable to access my email on my phone. i decided to delete the email account off the iphone email app and re-enter it. in doing so i am requested to authenticate through an authenticator app. once i install the authenticator app to access my email, the authenticator app wants me to use an authenticator app to verify, which is literally impossible. when i try to sign in using my password i get an error screen that won't allow me access.

not sure how to fix this been at it for hours.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with multi-factor authentication (MFA) when trying to access your email on your iPhone. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:

    1. Check Time Synchronization: Ensure that the clocks on both your MacBook and iPhone are synchronized. If they are out of sync, it can cause issues with generating valid authentication codes. You may need to disable automatic time settings temporarily to adjust them manually.
    2. Use Backup Codes: If you have previously set up backup codes for your email account, you can use one of those codes to sign in instead of using the authenticator app.
    3. Authenticator App Setup: If you have just installed the authenticator app, make sure it is properly set up with your email account. You may need to go through the process of linking the authenticator app to your email account again.
    4. Reinstall the Authenticator App: If the app is not functioning correctly, try uninstalling and reinstalling it. After reinstalling, follow the setup instructions carefully to link it to your email account.
    5. Contact Support: If you are still unable to access your email, consider reaching out to your email provider's support for assistance. They may be able to help you reset your authentication settings or provide alternative methods to verify your identity.

Following these steps should help you regain access to your email on your iPhone.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing the details of what you’ve been experiencing I understand how frustrating it can be to spend hours trying to regain access to your email especially when authentication seems to create a loop. This usually happens because multi-factor authentication is designed to protect your account but when the authenticator app isn’t fully set up or linked correctly it can block access.

One alternative solution you can try is signing in through your account’s web portal using a browser on your iPhone. From there check if you can manage your security settings and add a different verification method such as SMS or email-based verification. This will allow you to bypass the authenticator app temporarily and regain access. If that doesn’t work you can also reset your MFA settings by signing in on a trusted device like your MacBook and removing the existing authenticator configuration before setting it up again. This ensures the app is properly linked and avoids the verification loop.

Could you confirm if you have access to your account on any other device right now?

I hope this answer is helpful if you have further questions feel free to reply back

    Regards,

    Marcelo
