Formerly known as Azure AI Services or Azure Cognitive Services is a unified collection of prebuilt AI capabilities within the Microsoft Foundry platform
Hello PiotrLisek,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and Thank you for reaching out.
It’s understandable to be confused here. While Microsoft has announced Sora-2, its availability in Azure is not universal yet, which is why you’re only seeing the original Sora model in your regions.
Sora-2 does exist in Azure’s model catalog, but it is being rolled out in a staged and gated manner. This means the model is not automatically visible to all subscriptions or regions at the same time. Even if the announcement has been made, deployment availability depends on several factors.
Why you may not see Sora-2 yet
Regional rollout: Sora-2 is not enabled in all Azure regions. New models are often released gradually, and some regions receive access earlier than others.
Region selection: If your Azure OpenAI resource is deployed in a region where Sora-2 is not yet enabled, only the original Sora model will appear.
Subscription and entitlement limits: Access to Sora-2 may depend on your subscription type, quota availability, or specific entitlements. Not all subscriptions are enabled by default during early rollout phases.
No self-service enablement: There is currently no toggle or setting to “turn on” Sora-2 manually if it hasn’t been enabled for your subscription or region.
What you can do
Create a new Azure OpenAI resource in regions that typically receive new models earlier. If Sora-2 is enabled there, it should appear during deployment.
Review your Azure AI Studio quota settings to ensure your subscription is eligible and not restricted.
Please Keep an eye on Azure Updates and What’s new in Azure OpenAI Service for rollout announcements, as Microsoft does not publish detailed per-model rollout schedules in advance.
I Hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any further queries.
Thank you!
