Hyper-V replication not deleting HRL files

Hi,
I have an issue with Hyper-V replication whereby the destination HRL files are not being deleted and I just wanted to check if anyone else has a similar configuration and if they are seeing this issue.

We replicate a number of VMs from a 2012 R2 cluster to a 2012 R2 cluster in a different site. There are three nodes in each cluster. The replicated VMs are stored across five different CSVs and one of the three replica destination Hyper-V nodes would be an owner of a particular CSV. The replication status for all VMs is reporting as healthy but we are finding that the HRL files for some of the replicated VMs are not being automatically deleted. An Event ID 16140 is being logged in the Hyper-V VMMS Event Log.
It seems that if the replica VM is registered to a Hyper-V node and that node is ALSO the owner of the CSV containing the VM's files then the HRL files are not being deleted. If I am logged into the node then I cannot manually delete the HRL files (error 0x80070542 Either a required impersonation level was not provided, or the provided impersonation level is invalid) but logging into a different node does allow me to manually delete the files.

I would be grateful if someone has a similar configuration and can confirm if the HRL files are being deleted successfully when a Hyper-V node hosts the replica VM and is also an owner of the CSV containing that VM's files. The owner's of the CSV would change when the Hyper-V nodes are rebooted during maintenance periods. Perhaps this isn't an issue and it's expected behaviour with replication but we have only recently noticed this happening.
Thank you.

    Hi,

I am trying to create a lab to simulate your scenario, since it may time-consumed, if I get any progress, I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

    Best Regards,
    Anne
