I have my PC with windows 11 Home version 25H2. Today I purchased an upgrade to Windows 11 Pro from the Microsoft Store. However, when I click the upgrade button, the progress jumps from 10% to 100% and then displays an "Upgrade Failed" message with error code 0xc004f050. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

If the Home to Pro upgrade is failing, try this method with the generic Pro key to perform the upgrade.

Important - disconnect totally from the Internet

Open the Settings App (Gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Update and Security - Activation

    Click Change Product key

Enter this generic product key: VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T

    When prompted, click 'Activate Product'

If the above does not work first time, restart your PC and try again.

Note the generic key will cause the home edition to upgrade to the Pro edition, then your own legal licence will activate automatically after you restart (not shut down) your PC

The error code 0xc004f050 typically indicates that the product key used for the upgrade is invalid or that there is an issue with the activation of Windows. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue:

    1. Check Your Product Key: Ensure that the product key you received for Windows 11 Pro is correct and has not been used on another device.
    2. Use the Activation Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and run the activation troubleshooter. This may help identify and fix the issue.
    3. Restart Your PC: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues that may be affecting the upgrade process.
    4. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your current version of Windows 11 Home is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If the issue persists, it may be best to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance with the upgrade process.

These steps should help you troubleshoot the upgrade issue you are experiencing.
