 Hi,

Thank you for sharing your question.

I understand how frustrating it is to encounter errors when opening your own Word documents especially when the page shows “Something’s not right” or “The page you requested is temporarily unavailable”, and you’re repeatedly asked to sign in despite already doing so. I know this can interrupt your work, and I’m here to help you get things working smoothly again.

This issue usually happens when Office apps have trouble connecting to the Microsoft 365 services in the background. Temporary service interruptions, a stuck sign‑in session, or outdated credentials within Word can cause the app to fail when opening documents or loading online features. The repeated sign‑in prompt often means the authentication token didn’t refresh correctly, so Word keeps asking you to sign in again.

To resolve this, start by fully signing out of Office, close all Office apps, and then sign back in to refresh your session. Clearing cached credentials in Word or Windows can also help remove stale sign‑in data that may be causing the loop. If the error persists, check whether Microsoft 365 services are experiencing temporary issues, as these can affect document loading and online features even if the app itself is functioning normally. A quick repair of Office can also fix any local component that may be failing to load the document viewer.

To better assist you, may I know if this issue happens only with certain documents or with all Word files, including new ones you try to create?

Feel free to follow up with any updates or questions I’m here to help you get everything back up and running.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Noel

The error message you are encountering when trying to open Word documents, stating that the page is temporarily unavailable, can occur due to issues with the Office Online service. This can happen if the service is not available or if there are problems with the SharePoint Shared Services Infrastructure that Office Online relies on to convert documents for viewing in a browser. Additionally, if the service account running the web application has issues, it may also lead to such errors.

If you are repeatedly being asked to sign in, it could indicate a session issue or a problem with your account authentication.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Ensure that your internet connection is stable.
    2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
    3. Try accessing the documents from a different browser or device.
    4. If possible, open the documents directly in the desktop version of Word.
    5. If the problem persists, check if there are any service outages reported by Microsoft.

If none of these steps work, you may need to reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
