Hello Don Pisegna,
Since the recovery key itself is being accepted but Windows keeps looping back to the same screen, the issue is not with the key — it is with BitLocker's boot protectors continuing to trigger after the key is entered. This is a known behaviour that can be resolved through Windows Recovery Environment.
Please try the following steps:
- At the BitLocker recovery screen, press Esc or select Skip this drive instead of entering the key again.
- You should be taken to a recovery options screen. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
- In Command Prompt, run the following two commands in order, replacing the X's with your actual 48-digit recovery key:
-
manage-bde -unlock C: -recoverypassword XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-
manage-bde -protectors -disable C: - Close Command Prompt and restart your PC normally.
-
-
The second command temporarily suspends BitLocker's boot protectors, which breaks the loop and allows Windows to load. BitLocker will remain on the drive and you can re-enable it afterward from Settings once you are back in Windows.
