I have a Windows disk given to me when I bought an earlier computer with Windows installed. I've never had to use it but I bought a refurbed computer without an OS. I installed Windows (and it works) but find there is no code with the disk the store gave me. I can't get the internet to work so I can't activate Windows online. Short of taking the computer to a shop to have them fix the internet connection, what are my options?

Hello. Yea, There are a few solutions to get the internet connected. You can use an ethernet cable. I do not know I-Phone , but I do know android. If you have android phone you can plug in your android phone via USB cable to the computer and tether the internet that way. You should hear a bloop-bloop sound telling you an USB device was just attached when windows is running not too important as long as the phone shows the toggle and you can turn that toggle on all should be good. To do that on the phone, go to the settings app on the phone then type in the top search bar "USB tethering" then toggle it to on that is it. Then the computer "should" connect to the internet automatically. As long as the USB drivers clue in that there is an connection. Either way you will need to buy a new key since there happened to be no code. I do not know if that windows CD-ROMs is a legit one, It should be as long as you bought it from the store if it is a CD-ROMs/USB installer.

IF the store has a warranty I would go with the stores installing it and activating it. You may need to give the store your MS E-mail and password if you want the store to set up the PC with an online licence activation attached to your MS email address. OR be there to sign into the MS account.

IF you do not want MS OneDrive make sure you tell the installers.

IF you do not want MS office/ MS products make sure you tell the installers.

Oh, I recommend a physical usb storage device for backing up your computer and important cat photos.
