If the code on an Xbox/Microsoft gift card is damaged and unreadable, it cannot be redeemed directly and cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account.

For a working, readable code, the normal redemption steps are:

1. Go to the Redeem Code page.
2. Sign in with the correct Microsoft account.
3. Enter the 25-character code from the card.

If the printed code is physically unreadable (scratched off or damaged), self-service redemption is not possible. In that case, contact Microsoft Customer Support with proof of purchase so they can review options based on the Microsoft gift card terms and conditions and local law.

Note that:

• Gift cards are non-transferable to another person or Microsoft account.
• Microsoft generally does not refund or replace gift cards that cannot be redeemed, except where required by law or under specific conditions in the gift card terms.
