Since Windows Spotlight is usually the default and when it disappears it feels broken. To troubleshoot start by opening Settings then Personalization and Lock screen and confirm Spotlight is not available which may indicate a policy restriction. Next restart the device and check if the option returns. If it does not open Apps in Settings go to Installed apps find Windows system components related to Spotlight and run Repair or Reset if available. If still missing reset Spotlight manually by enabling it in the registry under the current user ContentDeliveryManager settings and then clear the Spotlight cache in the local app data folder followed by another restart. If this is a company or HP managed device Spotlight may be intentionally disabled by policy and cannot be re enabled without IT access.
