Language and Local settings have to be separate.

I may be in Switzerland and work with metric system and use i specific date format and word page sizes ect. But does not mean I speak German.

Example: I have my windows in English (Switzerland) I want to install Power Bi and the language is German. It does not follow my windows language. I change it to english and tried to open this help site and it is again on german.. when i was loggigng in it does not even allow to change the language in to English. May be a bug .. it jups back to finish login... Not helpful if instructions are in german while doing it???

    Hello Aleks S,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand the frustration — being in Switzerland with English as your Windows display language but having apps and websites default to German based on your region, is not ideal.

That said, the core of your request — having Language and Locale fully decoupled across all Microsoft apps and services — is something only the product/engineering teams can address. The Microsoft Q&A forum is a community space and isn't monitored by engineering teams for feature requests like this.

In the meantime, a couple of quick tips that might help:

    • For Power BI Desktop, you can manually override the language in File > Options and settings > Options > Regional Settings > change Application Language to English.
    • For websites showing in German, check that English is at the top of your browser's preferred language list (in Edge: Settings > Languages).

That said, to actually get this feedback to the right people, the best channels would be the Feedback Hub (built into Windows — open it from the Start menu, then select Suggest a Feature) or the Feedback Portal at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/.

You're raising a valid point. Hopefully, these channels will help make your voice heard.
