    Hello Johan Lindstrom,

The Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000 (model 1073) is from around 2006 and uses a proprietary 2.4GHz USB receiver, not Bluetooth, so it will not show up in Windows Bluetooth settings. "Resetting" it really means re-syncing it to its original receiver.

    • With both the keyboard and mouse powered on, press and hold the Connect button on the underside of the keyboard for at least five seconds, then press the Connect button on the USB receiver.
    • Replace the four AA batteries and plug the receiver directly into a USB port on the PC rather than a hub.
    • Keep the receiver away from Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones, and large metal surfaces.
    • Hard reset if still unresponsive: Remove the batteries, hold any key for about five seconds to drain residual power, leave the batteries out for 30 seconds, then reinsert fresh ones and repeat the Connect step.

Note that this hardware is about 20 years old and no longer actively supported, so feature support on current Windows 11 is limited to basic typing. And because it only pairs with its original receiver, if that receiver has been lost, the keyboard unfortunately cannot be paired with anything else.

To reset the connection between your keyboard and the receiver, follow these specific steps:

    • Trigger the Sync: Press the Connect button at the bottom of the keyboard. Then, press the Connect button on the USB wireless receiver.
    • Battery Pull (Hard Reset): If the keyboard remains unresponsive, remove the batteries and leave them out for 30 seconds. While they are out, hold down any key for 5 seconds to drain any residual power, then reinsert fresh batteries.
    • Check the Transceiver: This model uses a specific 2.4GHz Bluetooth-based transceiver. Ensure it is plugged directly into a USB port on the PC, not a hub, to ensure it has enough power to complete the handshake.
    • Software Reset: If the keyboard connects but keys behave erratically, download the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. It will allow you to reset key assignments to "Default" and update the firmware if a newer version is available.

Note: Since this is an older model, ensure the receiver is not near other high-frequency devices (like Wi-Fi routers), as this specific keyboard is highly sensitive to signal interference.

To reset a Microsoft wireless keyboard like the Entertainment Keyboard 7000, use these steps that apply to wireless keyboards in general:

    1. Check power and hardware
      1. Make sure the keyboard has fresh batteries and they are inserted correctly.
      2. Verify the USB wireless receiver is firmly connected to the PC.
      3. If using a USB hub, ensure it has power; if issues persist, plug the receiver directly into a USB port on the PC.
      4. Try a different USB port.
    2. Re-establish the wireless connection
      1. Look on the bottom of the keyboard for a Reset (or Connect/Sync) button.
      2. Press the Reset button on the keyboard.
      3. If the USB receiver also has a Reset button, press it as well.
      4. For USB wireless receivers without a button, unplug the receiver, wait about 10 seconds, then plug it back in so Windows reloads the driver and re-establishes the connection.
    3. Remove interference
      1. Keep the keyboard and receiver at least a few feet away from other wireless devices (cordless phones, cell phones, other wireless mice/keyboards).
      2. Avoid placing the keyboard or receiver on metallic surfaces or near long metal objects.
    4. Update software and customize behavior
      1. Install the latest Microsoft keyboard software (such as IntelliType/IntelliPoint or the newer Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center) for full functionality and configuration.
      2. After installation, restart the PC.
      3. To adjust what the keyboard does (key assignments, special keys, etc.), open Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse or use the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center to customize key behavior.

If specific keys or special functions still do not work after these steps, check Windows Update for the latest updates and drivers, and verify there is no debris under the keys.
