my new laptop doesn't have the HID option for touchscreen how can I get my laptop to be touchscreen

Your new laptop may or may not have the touchscreen capability, I need to check your laptop model and hardware, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

A laptop can only be a touchscreen device if it has a physical touchscreen panel and the corresponding touch hardware and firmware. The HID‑compliant touch screen entry in Device Manager appears only when such hardware is present and correctly detected.

If HID‑compliant touch screen is missing in Device Manager and the laptop was not sold as a touchscreen model, it cannot be made touchscreen through software or drivers alone; new touch hardware would be required.

If the device is supposed to be touchscreen (sold/advertised as such) and the HID touch device or Surface Touch firmware is missing or has errors, install the correct drivers/firmware from the device manufacturer. For Surface devices, the guidance is:

• If the HID‑compliant touchscreen driver or Surface Touch firmware is missing or shows an error in Device Manager, manually install the drivers and firmware using the vendor’s driver/firmware package. For Surface, see “Download drivers and firmware for Surface”.

If the touchscreen is present but disabled, it can be re‑enabled:

1. Right‑click Start and select Device Manager.
2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
3. Right‑click HID‑compliant touch screen and select Enable device.
4. Repeat for any additional HID‑compliant touch screen entries.
