Can’t purchase 365 basic plan

I’m trying to buy the 365 basic plan again as my subscription was cancelled due to getting a new bank card. I’ve updated all the details and my old card is completely gone and yet I can’t but this plan again. It only allows me to buy the more expensive options which I do not need or want.

Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help. [Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed] Tue, 12 May 2026 19:05:44 GMT

This is the error message I get. I’ve contacted customer support and they couldn’t help me either. Am I just not allowed to have the basic plan again?

    Hello Jordan Gaunt

I can see that you are currently can't purchase 365 basic plans.

Based on what you described, this does not appear to mean that you’re no longer eligible for the Microsoft 365 Basic plan. It looks more like a purchase or billing validation issue, especially since the previous subscription was affected by a card change.

Here are what you can do:

    • Sign in to your Services & subscriptions page using the same Microsoft account that was used for your previous Microsoft 365 Basic subscription. If you see the old subscription listed with Pay now, use that option instead of starting a new purchase.
    • If the subscription shows Manage, open it and select Change how you pay to update the payment method directly on that subscription.

If the same error continues, I recommend contacting Microsoft Support. Here is how you can contact them:

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Manage my Subscription" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.
