Hello andrea savage

Microsoft Money was discontinued back in 2009, and Microsoft has since removed the official download from their website. Since it hasn't received any updates in over 15 years, running older versions on modern Windows can lead to compatibility issues, errors, or unexpected behavior.

That said, Microsoft did release a free version called Microsoft Money Plus Sunset Deluxe before pulling the plug entirely. It runs well on Windows 10 and 11, and many users in the community have been using it without issues for years.

In this thread, another advisor walks through the full process — including a safe download link, virus scan results, and installation steps:

I hope that helps.

Microsoft Money was discontinued years ago, and has received no updates of any kind - including security updates. Do you really want to trust your personal finance to software that's an easy target for hackers?

Microsoft Money itself is discontinued and is no longer offered as a supported download.

On a new Windows PC without a disc drive, there are two general options for installing older software:

  1. Use a USB/external DVD drive
    • Connect an external CD/DVD drive to the PC.
    • Insert the original Microsoft Money disc.
    • If setup does not start automatically, open File Explorer, browse to the disc, and run Setup.exe or Install.exe.
    • If nothing happens when inserting the disc, check AutoPlay:
      1. Select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > AutoPlay.
      2. Turn AutoPlay On and try again.
  2. Copy the disc contents from another PC
    • On a different PC that has a disc drive, insert the Microsoft Money disc.
    • Copy all files from the disc to a USB drive.
    • Move the USB drive to the new PC, copy the files locally, and run Setup.exe or Install.exe from that folder.

If the installer runs successfully, Microsoft Money can often still be used, but there will be no updates or official support.
