Reboot Windows 11!!!

How can I reboot Windows 11 because I can't make any changes or download any app because of the admin request for a pin or a password. I have looked everywhere looking for a way around this. I'm just used to clicking the yes button and going on now this. I'm the only account on this computer I never had this happen to any other computers I had before.

I don't know the password to for the admin and its asking for an email and password even in safe mode.

ok, so that means the computer does have an admin user, and you don't seem to know its credentials.

Just to make sure, are you using a work or school (business) email address to sign into your computer by chance?

Is was set up as a work computer and i was to place all programs needed but nobody seems to be able to find the admin email and password i set the computer up with my work email and password but i cant make any changes to the computer it ask for a security device credential pin but i never set one up is there a way to find it

OK, that's the problem. When you set up your computer with a work email address, I assume this is not some free outlook.com address used for work purpose, but actual busienss/custom domain address, right? When you set it up that way, you basically joined your computer to the organization's Azure active directory, so administration is managed via the AD by organization admin user.

Tell me a bit more, you said you set it up as a work computer, what does that mean exactly? Is it "bring you computer to work" scenario, or this is indeed an organization assigned device and should be managed by organization?

the computer was bought for the company and i was just to load the programs needed and when doing so i was met with the prompts of asking for an email an password for making changes not just to click yes and keep going the funny thing is i did my laptop the same way an i don't need admins email or password to make changes that's what's got me so confused

Did you set up the computer initially?

Do you recall setting up a local admin user?

If so, in the pop up credential page, you would need to enter this for username

.\localusername

replace localusername with the actual one, or you can try the super admin username, which is administrator, in case that was intially used.

Then enter the password if you know what it is. Or try blank if the super admin never has one set up.

yes i set it up and no i didnt set up a local admin user it just had me to set a pin for locking when looking to make changes it says AzureAD/JasonPrice with password protected under it

im in the contol panel to make changes to my account. i never made a password just a pin

Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center https://entra.microsoft.com

In the left navigation pane, go to Devices > Device settings

Scroll down to the section titled Additional local administrators on Azure AD joined devices

Click Add assignments

Choose the user(s) or group(s) you want to make local administrators.

You can add:

A single user (for example, yourself), or

An Azure AD security group (for example, IT Admins).

Click Select, then Save to confirm.

Restart or re-sign in on the target computer for the change to apply.

Once synced, those users/groups will appear in the local Administrators group on the joined device. The sync process sometimes can take up to 24 hours.

Ok, that means you are not the global admin then? You need your business tenant's admin user to do this part then. That's typically the IT department.

Have you lost your admin privileges?

On this computer, it doesn't have an admin at all, or it has an admin, but you don't know the password?

If it doesn't have admin at all, there's a way to recover admin access.

Hold down Shift key while you choose Windows restart, then go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings, click on restart, then choose option 4.

When prompted for password, leave it blank and enter.

When you are in safe mode, hold down windows + r keys, type in netplwiz and press enter.

Then double click on your username, go to Group Membership tab, make it admin.

Restart, log back into your user. You should now have admin access.
