My windows system on my laptop says that my windows version has reached the end of service. my laptop is very slow. I however always update it on time. I am using the edition windows 11 Pro with 22H2 version, on a Dell laptop, what could be the problem?

Windows 11 versions have a lifecycle of 2 years, your version (2H22) is 3 years out of date.

If you are not automatically offered the 24H2 or 25H2 updates in the Windows Update section in the Settings app, I need to check your system hardware in case, that is blocking the latest feature updates.

Click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

The message that Windows has reached the end of service and the slow performance are two related but separate issues.

    1. Why the “end of service” message appears
      • Windows 11 versions are supported only for a fixed time. Each version (feature update) has an end of servicing date, after which it no longer receives security and quality updates.
      • Windows 11, version 22H2 (Home & Pro, including Pro) reaches the end of updates on October 8, 2024. After that, it no longer receives security updates.
      • When a version reaches end of servicing, Windows Update will eventually try to move the device to a newer supported version so it continues to receive monthly updates.
So the message means: Windows 11 Pro 22H2 on the laptop is at or near its servicing end date and must be upgraded to a newer Windows 11 version to stay supported.
    2. Why the laptop is slow The context lists several common causes of slow performance:
      • Limited storage space
      • Too many startup/background apps
      • Outdated software or drivers
      • Hardware that no longer meets modern performance needs
      • Possible issues with malware or system corruption
Even if updates have been installed on time, performance can still degrade if:
      • Disk space is nearly full
      • Many apps run at startup
      • Drivers or optional updates are missing
      • The hardware is older and struggling with newer workloads
    3. Actions to take A. Ensure the system is on a supported Windows 11 version
      1. Open SettingsWindows Update.
      2. Select Check for updates.
      3. Install any offered feature update (for example, to a newer Windows 11 version) so the device continues to receive security and quality updates.
If no newer version appears even though 22H2 has reached end of updates, follow the guidance from the Windows Lifecycle FAQ and Windows 11 servicing announcements to move to the latest version of Windows 11. B. Improve performance The official guidance for slow PCs includes:
      1. Install Windows and driver updates
        • Go to SettingsWindows UpdateCheck for updates and install all available updates.
        • Then go to SettingsWindows UpdateAdvanced optionsOptional updates and install any relevant driver updates.
      2. Use Microsoft PC Manager (if available in the region)
        • PC Manager helps clean up storage, manage startup apps, and optimize performance.
      3. Check for malware
        • Open SettingsPrivacy & securityWindows SecurityVirus & threat protectionQuick scan.
      4. Consider hardware limits
        • If the device is older or has limited RAM/storage, improvements may be modest. In such cases, upgrading the device may be the best long‑term solution.
    4. Why this matters
      • Once a Windows version reaches end of support, it stops receiving security fixes and quality updates, which can affect both security and stability.
      • Staying on a supported Windows 11 version and applying performance tips helps keep the Dell laptop both secure and more responsive.
