All of my inbox e-mails for just 2026 have suddenly diassapeared. How could this have occurred and are there any steps I could take to restore them ? Thank you.

I think ur 2026 mail can be recovered only when it still appears in Deleted Items and Recover items deleted from this folder, and Outlook.com gives no user‑visible explanation for the disappearance of that year’s messages.

For Outlook.com and Outlook on the web, missing inbox email for a specific period (such as all messages from 2026) is usually caused by one of these:

    1. Messages were moved by filters, rules, or Focused Inbox
    2. Messages were deleted (and may still be recoverable)
    3. Messages were treated as junk and moved to Junk Email
    4. Account inactivity or other account activity

Work through these steps in order:

    1. Check Junk Email
      • Open Outlook.com.
      • Go to the Junk Email folder.
      • Look for messages from 2026.
      • If any belong in Inbox, select the message and choose Not junk > Not junk to move it back to Inbox and help prevent this in future.
    2. Clear filters so all mail is shown
      • In your Inbox, select Filter above the message list.
      • Change it to All so nothing is hidden by date, unread status, or other filters.
    3. Check Focused/Other tabs (if Focused Inbox is on)
      • In the Inbox, select the Other tab and look for the missing 2026 messages.
      • If you find them, select a message and choose Move to > Move to Focused inbox so similar mail goes to Focused in future.
    4. Check rules and Sweep settings
      • Go to Rules settings in Outlook.com.
      • Look for any Inbox or Sweep rules that might move or delete new mail (for example, rules that move messages to another folder or RSS feed).
      • Edit or delete any rule that is incorrectly moving or deleting messages.
    5. Check Archive and other folders
      • Open the Archive folder and any custom folders you use.
      • If you find 2026 messages there, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
    6. Check Deleted Items and Recoverable Items
      • Open the Deleted Items folder.
      • If you see 2026 messages, select them and choose Restore (or Move > Inbox).
      • If they are not visible there, at the top of the Deleted Items list select Recover items deleted from this folder.
      • Select any 2026 messages you want back and choose Restore.
      • Note:
        • Items removed from Deleted Items are only recoverable for 30 days.
        • Messages are automatically removed from Junk Email after 30 days and are not recoverable.
    7. Review recent sign-in activity
      • If there is any chance someone else accessed the account and deleted or moved mail, go to the Recent activity page for the Microsoft account.
      • Review sign-ins and follow the guidance there if suspicious activity is found.
    8. If mail is still missing
      • Use the in-product Help in Outlook.com: select Help on the menu bar, describe the problem, then under Still need help? choose Yes to contact support.
      • If sign-in is not possible, use the alternate Outlook.com support link from the documentation.

If the messages were permanently deleted more than 30 days ago from Deleted Items or Junk Email, they cannot be recovered.
