Hi B-Man Borkert,
I understand how difficult it feels when a forgotten admin password is preventing you from starting recovery or reinstalling Windows. Unfortunately, if this is the Surface UEFI password, there is no supported method to recover, bypass, or reset it yourself. Please refer to Forgot UEFI password for Surface | Microsoft Support
- If the Surface was previously owned or managed by an organization, ask whether they can provide it.
- If this is your device, reach out to support and they may be able to discuss available service options:
- Sign into Contact Us - Microsoft Support:
- Type in your problem > click Get Help to make request
- Scroll to the bottom and click Contact Support to connect to agent
- Select category again > continue and you should be added to a chat queue.
- If you don't see the chat option, go through other categories and request escalate.
Note: The support contact team only works at certain times, so if the last window shows that it's unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. This way, they can call you and help you.
- How to get service or repair for Surface - Microsoft Support
- Sign in at account.microsoft.com/devices/select-device-for-repair
- If your Surface Pro isn't registered yet, select Register device.
- If the device is already registered, choose it and click Next.
- Follow the instructions to complete your service order.
I know this is not an answer you're hoping for, but this is an unfortunate truth for UEFI passwords case. When contacting support, explain that you have forgotten the UEFI password, and have the proof of ownership available.
