Like many others I have a Gaming Laptop with a still powerful i7-6820HK; however whilst Microsoft windows 11 supports a vast list of Intel processors the list is missing the i7 6xxx and 7xxx series. will this be addressed in future updates?

Will i7-6820HQ processor be added in Windows 11 supported list?

I too, have the powerful Intel Core i7-6820HK on my gaming laptop and I can't for the life of me figure out why it is not supported for windows 11. When I first ordered my laptop (custom build) I got a $3,000 build for only $2,000 as it is a custom alienware gaming laptop. Its a very nice build and am too, frustrated at the fact that I wont be able to run Windows 11 on it because its not listed as supported. I know most laptops are cheaper these days and come with windows 11 but I shouldnt have to go out and buy a new laptop when I have a perfectly suitable EXPENSIVE one just to upgrade to windows 11. I am wondering if my laptop is going to end up becoming a very heavy paperweight when they stop supporting/pushing (critical or not) updates out for windows 10, especially with all the cyber attacks increasing these days. Who knows what was/is on their minds when determining which processors will support windows 11. Mine should be more than capable to run it but nope its not on the stupid list. Id LOVE to know WHY its NOT SUPPORTED. Its a freakin joke.... and a frustrating one at that!

Something to do with lacking TPM built into the chip? If so I'm not sure there's anything that can be done.

This cpu come with tpm 2.0 and it is strong. Microsoft should consider add it to the list...

It bothers me that this CPU still isn't listed at supported when I'm 100% sure it will run Win11. Sure maybe a tiny bit slower but it will be usable.
It's time to allow people to override and install Win11 anyways. Prompt them letting them know their mostly good hardware isn't officially support and they might encounter problems and to backup all important data first.
Because of Microsoft's lack of support for slightly older yet still strong hardware, I will really think harder before buying future laptops. It's possible I will only go for ones that I can use Linux on and have much longer support for.

I highly doubt that there might be any addition of processors as supported in near future. You can use the feedback hub to raise this issue.
Some of the 7th generation processor and all 8th generation Intel processor are supported for Windows 11. It seems your Intel i7-6820HK is not in the list and it might not support the Windows 11.

I used one of the workarounds to install regardless of CPU and haven't had any issues.

Atm, we don't have any update from Microsoft yet, if they will update the list of supported processors for Windows 11 over the time.

I have found that the issue is not with Microsoft. The issue appears to be that Intel is not updating the drivers for those older processors so Microsoft will not support them due to possible incompatibility or security issues.
