The LPD service is still in Windows Server 2022 - are there still plans for deprecation?

Question

For Server 2012 R2 Microsoft announced that the LPD service was deprecated, and several forum posts here have covered the topic, but despite this all subsequent server releases have had the feature. That still holds true for Server 2022 the feature is there and appears to work fine.

So, what goes? Will it be deprecated or not? Since the feature is in 2022 I suppose that means the feature is supported by Microsoft in that version?

That is correct, the feature is deprecated but not removed. That means that Microsoft is respecting the inclusion of this code for the continuity of funtionality but will not realease any update, security path or improvement.

As per the official article, there is no specific date for remova, just "When this feature is eventually removed, ..."

I wish Microsoft had someone left on the print team who could totally remove the feature from Windows but alas, my wish will never occur.

The feature still works but I do not have Server 2022. If you find that it is not working as you need, MS will not support that.

Interestingly I can't see it on my Server 2022. I wonder if it has been removed in an update.

It's best avoided anyway, it is riddled with bugs and is insecure.
