Hi,

Starting SCCMCB 1810, Microsoft released SDK for creation of machine-based Pre-Approval request and corresponding Approve, Deny and Retry method as listed below:

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/configuration-manager-blog/application-approval-improvements-in-configmgr-1810/ba-p/303534

My question is, does it also support User-Based pre-approval request (Approve an application for a User)?

Looking at the list of supported inputs for the 'CreateApproveRequest' method within the SCCMCB Server WMI Class 'SMS_ApplicationRequest' via WMI Explorer, one of the input listed is also UserName but when I tried creating an approve request passing the same, get an WMI Generic Failure.

Kindly suggest.

Thanks!

The tag "qna-feedback" that is used in this question is for feedback questions on this Microsoft QnA forum.

If the question is more on configuration manager, please use the "me-cm-general" tag and post a question

    Hi,

    Thanks for posting in Q&A.

There is no specific document about user-based on our microsoft offical document. According to it , it mainly mentions the content of machine-based. I also did this experiment and the result was the same.Could we share our idea on the user voice for those people who has similar issues?

    Thanks for your time.

@DS Sorry, not sure what you mean here. This method has nothing to do with "pre-approval". The method described in that post and fully documented at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/apps/deploy-use/install-app-for-device. This method enables on-demand, real-time deployment of applications to systems. No, this isn't applicable to users though as they can already do this by using the Company Portal. Device approval is for help desk assisted scenarios and user approval is for user-driven scenarios.
