Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is safe and sound!

I need your help regarding an issue I have been trying to get the answer of us to have a situation in hand where we had to reconfigure a distribution point in SCCM. Now we have requested our backup team to take the backup to content validation could be done ASAP and DP would be all ready to be used.

After we reconfigured the DP all the packages were successfully replicated and we did not see any error on that for a week but all of a sudden it shows all of our content had been failed and checking the Distmgr log tell some of thee packages have been failed to validated but we see all of the shows as failed on DP so I need your assistance in how to deal with this issue.

If we choose to reconfigure the DP should we remove the entire content library manually and if yes which folders should we be removing?

Is there a way we can redistribute all the packages on the DP at once using the console?

In case if i dont not want my data replication to take place from the backup and if we have already taken the backup how to make sure backup won’t play any role in replication?

Hope someone's experience can help me out here?

Regards

    Hi,

You can redistribute a package to copy all of the content files in the package to distribution points or distribution point groups and thereby overwrite the existing files.

Use this operation to repair content files in the package or resend the content when the initial distribution fails. You can redistribute a package from:

    Package properties
    Distribution point properties
    Distribution point group properties.

I hope the above information is helpful to you.

    Hi Larry,

Thanks a ton for your reply here !!

could you confirm if the distribution of the packages is failing on a specific DP would it possible to distribute the package from DP group so it won't redistribute the package of those DP which has no issue in them?

I guess it would force the data distribution on all the DP part of that group and in this case we should go for properties of single DP to redistribute the package??

Hope to hear back from you soon on this :) .
