Remove Node on Failover Clustering

Good morning,

I have a failover clustering with two nodes, one node with vm and another node completely without virtual machines

However, I must change the ip to the node that does not have vm.

Before changing the ip to the node, should I stop the cluster services on that node and then remove it from the cluster?

Or can I change the ip to the node and then run test validation at the cluster level?

    Hello @lra

There is not need to Stop Cluster services to change the ip of of your Node.

Just Pause the Node then Change the IP and reboot the Node.

To change the IP : From Failover Cluster Manager -> Expand the Cluster Core Resources listing -> Cluster Name and the IP Address -> Right-click on the IP address and select Properties. On the General tab, you should be able to change the IP address.

Hope this answers your question :)
    Thank you.

    Hi,

stop cluster service and remove the node from cluster before before updating the IP address, I think it's a good approach.

You can refer to the following link to remove a node or destroy a cluster in case where you want rebuild it from scratch.:
