public System.IO.FileStream Create ();
member this.Create : unit -> System.IO.FileStream
Public Function Create () As FileStream
Returns
A new file.
Examples
The following example creates a reference to a file, and then creates the file on disk using FileInfo.Create()
.
using namespace System;
using namespace System::IO;
int main()
{
// Create a reference to a file.
FileInfo^ fi = gcnew FileInfo( "temp.txt" );
// Actually create the file.
FileStream^ fs = fi->Create();
// Modify the file as required, and then close the file.
fs->Close();
// Delete the file.
fi->Delete();
}
using System;
using System.IO;
public class DeleteTest
{
public static void Main()
{
// Create a reference to a file.
FileInfo fi = new FileInfo("temp.txt");
// Actually create the file.
FileStream fs = fi.Create();
// Modify the file as required, and then close the file.
fs.Close();
// Delete the file.
fi.Delete();
}
}
Imports System.IO
Public Class DeleteTest
Public Shared Sub Main()
' Create a reference to a file.
Dim fi As New FileInfo("temp.txt")
' Actually create the file.
Dim fs As FileStream = fi.Create()
' Modify the file as required, and then close the file.
fs.Close()
' Delete the file.
fi.Delete()
End Sub
End Class
The following example creates a file, adds some text to it, and reads from the file.
using namespace System;
using namespace System::IO;
using namespace System::Text;
int main()
{
String^ path = "c:\\MyTest.txt";
FileInfo^ fi = gcnew FileInfo( path );
// Delete the file if it exists.
if ( fi->Exists )
{
fi->Delete();
}
//Create the file.
FileStream^ fs = fi->Create();
try
{
array<Byte>^info = (gcnew UTF8Encoding( true ))->GetBytes( "This is some text in the file." );
//Add some information to the file.
fs->Write( info, 0, info->Length );
}
finally
{
if ( fs )
delete (IDisposable^)fs;
}
//Open the stream and read it back.
StreamReader^ sr = fi->OpenText();
try
{
String^ s = "";
while ( s = sr->ReadLine() )
{
Console::WriteLine( s );
}
}
finally
{
if ( sr )
delete (IDisposable^)sr;
}
}
//This code produces output similar to the following;
//results may vary based on the computer/file structure/etc.:
//
//This is some text in the file.
using System;
using System.IO;
using System.Text;

{
public static void Main()
{
string path = @"c:\MyTest.txt";
FileInfo fi = new FileInfo(path);
// Delete the file if it exists.
if (fi.Exists)
{
fi.Delete();
}
//Create the file.
using (FileStream fs = fi.Create())
{
Byte[] info =
new UTF8Encoding(true).GetBytes("This is some text in the file.");
//Add some information to the file.
fs.Write(info, 0, info.Length);
}
//Open the stream and read it back.
using (StreamReader sr = fi.OpenText())
{
string s = "";
while ((s = sr.ReadLine()) != null)
{
Console.WriteLine(s);
}
}
}
}
//This code produces output similar to the following;
//results may vary based on the computer/file structure/etc.:
//
//This is some text in the file.
Imports System.IO
Imports System.Text

Public Shared Sub Main()
Dim path As String = "c:\temp\MyTest.txt"
Dim fi As FileInfo = New FileInfo(path)
' Delete the file if it exists.
If fi.Exists() Then

End If
'Create the file.
Dim fs As FileStream = fi.Create()

Remarks
