How to: Open the Type Hierarchy Browser

This topic describes how to open the Type hierarchy browser to display hierarchical details for a single application object and for all application objects.

To open the Type hierarchy browser for a single application object

  • From the Application Object Tree (AOT), right-click a class, table, map, view, extended data type, or base enum and then click Add-Ins > Type hierarchy browser.

    The Type hierarchy browser displays detailed hierarchical information for the selected type. The left pane displays the hierarchical details for the selected type. For more information about what is displayed in the right pane, see Navigating the Type Hierarchy Browser.

To open the Type hierarchy browser for all application objects

  • Click Tools > Type hierarchy browser.

    The Type hierarchy browser displays detailed hierarchical information for all types. The left pane displays the object types that are available to view. The Common node contains application and system tables, maps, and views. The Object node contains application and system classes. The other nodes contain extended data types and enums.
