Outlook on Win 11 device will not download emails from g-mail to the computer.

Outlook on my old win 7 device has always downloaded emails from g-mail to the computer to be saved, answered, etc. Outlook on new win 11 device shows g-mail file structure and emails on server, but will not bring them down to my computer to be saved.
