Hi all,

I would like to ask you about Azure VM B Series.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/sizes-b-series-burstable

1, How come there is no version on B series? Others have v4, v5 and so on, but not B-series.
2, If there is a newer processor available, it will be added into B-series as well? Or no new processors will be added into B-series?
3, When we create B-series VM, say, Standard_B2ms, the processor might be randomly assigned out of the ones in the list below?
Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8370C (Ice Lake), the Intel® Xeon® Platinum 8272CL (Cascade Lake), the Intel® Xeon® 8171M 2.1 GHz (Skylake), the Intel® Xeon® E5-2673 v4 2.3 GHz (Broadwell), or the Intel® Xeon® E5-2673 v3 2.4 GHz (Haswell) processors.

    Hi Taka,

The Bs series is quite a different VM family to any of the others. The reason for the wide range of processors types is because Microsoft are using leftover/unused processors to be used as a burstable vCPU offering. With this VM family you are not getting dedicated processors but only a portion of the vCPU which can be used in a burstable manner. Therefore, the actual processor type should be of little relevance.

if you required dedicated vCPUs or a particular hardware type then you should choose one of the other VM families as this series is really intended for low CPU workloads.
