I'm looking to develop a new software to replace a current version (this is a software that shows map and tracks fast moving vehicles). The current version was written in MFC C++ and MFC is becoming obsolete. My question is what new tools from Microsoft that is suitable/worth investing in for the new software?

    MS recommends WinUI
From MSDN (Windows UI Library (WinUI)) :
"With support for both desktop and UWP apps, you can build with WinUI from the ground up, or gradually migrate your existing MFC, WinForms, or WPF apps using familiar languages such as C++, C#, Visual Basic, and JavaScript (using React Native for Windows)."
From my tests (I use it from first versions), it is not ready yet (too many bugs), although the idea is fine (porting UWP XAML controls in Win32 Desktop apps)

It’s a tough time for windows ui applications. Which gui platform will win. In the rush to cross platform, xamarin forms was picked as the underlying technology for Maui. But this is an old school kinda dated design approach compared to the more modern SwiftUI and Jetpack.

If your platform is C++/windows, then WFC is probable still the best approach.

My question is have you considered a web based application instead? Aside from mobile applications, all my “desktop” apps in the last decade have been web based, often SPA based.
