Hi!
I'm trying to upgrade my licensed SQL Server 2012 standard to a newest version, 2016 or 2017.
My question is if I upgrade to one of these versions with my actual license, the license will be allowed on any of it?

If yes, from where can I download the Standard version of 2017 as on the microsoft website I only see enterprise, development or express version...

thanks

regards

No, SQL Server license keys are bound to the version, you can not install SQL Server 2017 with a 2012 license key.
You have to purchase a new license & CAL's

    Hi @Raúl BB
Normally saying, you need to buy the new license but my colleagues told me that if you bought the sa agreement and it is within the useful period you can still use it (I'm not sure) If you wanna buy the license I think you need to connect the sales part.
You can try downloading the patch in this link :https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5016884-cumulative-update-31-for-sql-server-2017-6aa612d0-c97e-4c54-a41f-37f53777ba4c

    Morning!
I've purchased SQL Standar 2019 but now I've a question...

Actual server OS: Windows Server 2012
    Actual SQL server: 2012 standard

If I upgrade OS to Windows server 2019 (the main idea) actual SQL server will not work and if I upgrade SQL server will not work as is not compatible with actual OS. https://learn.microsoft.com/es-es/troubleshoot/sql/general/use-sql-server-in-windows

So I need to upgrade both at the same time, do I need to have something in mind when I upgrade from SQL 2012 to SQL 2019 or just install and upgrade it?

    thanks
    regards
