Excel files open as read-only from sharepoint in windows explorer

Hello,

We have an issue with excel files opening as read-only in SharePoint from Windows File Explorer.

All the steps mentioned here have been carried out without success:

Antivirus, property file read-only box unchecked, approved location added in excel, protected content, space not full, office well activated and up to date, online repair done

The office package on the workstation in question is office professional plus 2021 64 bits under Windows 10

Could this be due to a bad setting of the SharePoint site metadata level?

I added the "office-sharepoint-online" tag isn't that correct ?
The tag system is weird to me, as he only gives recommended tags.
I if i type "Sharepoint" he only let me chose tags like "sharepoint-dev" "office-sharepoint-server-administration" or "office-sharepoint-online"

Does this excel files opening as read-only in office application or in the browser or both？

It is recommended that you check the permission in library and make sure the current account has access to edit the file.

Besides, in versioning settings, when you select 'items require check out before they can be edited', it would be in read-only status.

Files opening as read-only only happens in desktop excel while in browser (Chrome in this instance) it works.

User is in the correct group and is a member of the sharepoint site and has access to files

In Versioning settings its set to no for "items require check out before they can be edited"

Deactivate the "Limited-access user permission lockdown mode"

Hello Again,

In "Site Collection Features" the setting "Limited-access user permission lockdown mode" is not activated.

For testing purposes we swapped the office 2021 pro (activated with a licence key) on the user pc with the 365 apps for business (used with a 365 account with a Businness Licence)

And the message is gone we no longer get read only message upon opening excel with the 365 apps for business instead of the office pack 2021 pro.

Wich is kinda weird, any explanations ?

Could you please provide a screenshot opened with the client, whether there is a warning or error when opened.
