Create MECM Configuration Item for font audit?

Hi All. We are in the process of rolling out a new font to a few thousand systems. The vast majority will be installed into C:\Windows\Fonts folder. Easy enough. But there will also be a number of users who will manually install it and thus it will sit in their own profile here like ‘C:\User\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts.’

We will need to audit where installed and I created a software inventory item for ‘thisfont.otf.’ But getting results is painfully slow and it was suggested a configuration item to scan for this is much better option. We have never used configuration items in our environment and hoping someone here could provide some insight. Perhaps you have had to report on font(s)? I did a search on google and didn’t quite find something this specific.

    Hi, @net1994

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

We may use File system compliance items to detect the file "thisfont.otf" like you used in software inventory, you may refer to the link for detailed steps:

    https://sccmdiet.wordpress.com/2014/09/10/sccm-2012-configuration-items-configuration-baselines-compliance-settings-part-4/
(Please note: Information posted in the given link is hosted by a third party. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy and effectiveness of information.)

And you need to create two Configuration Items and Configuration Baselines because the font file could exist in different path as you descripted.
%USERPROFILE% can be used in the path, for your reference:
