S2D storage provider in SCVMM fails after a rescan

I have about 20 HCI clusters in my instance of SCVMM (2019/10.19.2648.0). Most of the clusters have created storage providers and storage pools in VMM when the clusters were added to SCVMM. However, I have a number of clusters where the storage provider is not responding.

It doesn't seem to affect the operation of the failover cluster however the storage classification is not set correctly - I cannot migrate a VM from clusters that are working (have a proper storage classification) to a cluster with a provider that isn't responding (sets storage classification to local)

I am looking for a way to either straight up fix the storage provider, or a way to delete and recreate the storage provider without taking down my cluster and the VMs.

thanks in advance
