Printer redirection error 122. Event ID 372 on Windows Server 2019

We have virtualized (Hyper-v) Windows Server 2019 with Remote Desktop Service.
All users use redirected printers.

Sometimes printing from any application does not work when the user disconnects and reconnects (does not log out).
Redirected printers are still registered in the list
Event Viewer in Print Service is error 122: Event ID 372, ...The data area passed to a system call is too small
After about 5-15 minutes (irregular) printing works again

I tried different types of printers, including a driver other than the Easy Print driver (MS print to PDF), but the print redirection does not start
Restarting the spooler does nothing
Permission RW to the spool folder: %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers checked

Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Service -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Printer Redirection -Disabled
Do not allow client printer redirection -Disabled
Do not set default client printer to default printer in session -Disabled
Specify behavior for use of alternate printer drivers by VP session host servers -Disabled
Use printer driver first Easy Print from Remote Desktop feature -Disabled

The problems started 1/12/2022. No changes on the server around this date. Last updates 8/11/2022 and 17/11/2022
Until then, everything worked for 2 years
Users are authenticated on a second W19 server (no hyper-v) with an AD DC controller when logging in
Both systems are up to date

Hello everyone,

I'm encountering the same issue on both Windows Server 2019 and Windows 11 RDP sessions. As described by Mates earlier, attempting to print after resuming an RDP session sometimes causes nothing to be printed and triggering the error message "Win32 error code returned by print processor: 122. The data passed to a system call is too small."

Interestingly, I've observed that if I wait for a minute or so after the initial failure and then attempt to print again, it works without any issues. This suggests that there may be a delay in some part of the print subsystem restarting after resuming the RDP session.

Does anyone have any other insights or ideas on how to address this issue? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I've noticed the same behavior on Server 2022. It happens after Windows 11 RDP client reconnection. User logoff and logging back in solves the issue temporarily. Have there been any other updates to this issue?

We have about 25 different terminal servers 2016 and 2019 and certain users seem to have this issue, at least a few on each of the servers. It does seem to appear more often when the user has reconnected recently. Did anyone find any resolution?
