WF error on list

When trying to start the workflow came up with below error. it is 2016 site
I have tried with different workflows in the same list getting same error with the workflow name

This is happening after maintenance. Please assist and please share me the workflow error types MS link to probe on the issue.

Are you using default workflow or custom SharePoint Designer workflow? Is it SharePoint 2010 or 2013 workflow?
What is this workflow built for, content approval or other tasks?
Please provide detailed information about the workflow so that we can troubleshoot for you.

Here are a few things to check to narrow down this issue:

Make sure you do not use System Account to create or start the workflow. Log in as another administrator of this site and then republish the workflow to test again.
If you have approval task in the workflow, make sure you have enabled content approval in the list. Or deselect “Update the approval status (use this workflow to control content approval)” if you are using the default approval workflow.
Test the workflow function in another list to make sure it works as expected in your farm.

Hi Chelsea,

2010 platform
OOB workflow
Doc library content approval

Even Content approval enabled same issue and same error
On second point can you suggested what exactly need to do ? and where to do for the below highlighted one? I am not clear on that point ( noticed content approval is enabled )

and verified in test site with same OOB workflow came up with below error

When we create an approval workflow from the OOB workflow template, there is a setting of “Enable Content Approval”.

Usually it causes similar error when we do not have content approval enabled in the list or library and with this setting checked. But I have found another post suggesting that this setting will cause the same issue regardless.

Please uncheck this setting in workflow settings and then click Save. Start the workflow again and see if the error persists.
