Software update failed to install on client

Question

We get the error 0x87D00664(-2016410012) in the software center on the client, how do we troubleshoot this?

In the WUAHandler.log, I can see the error,

The installation job encountered some failures. Job Result=0x80240022.

0x87D00664 means Updates handler job was cancelled, there could be several reasons why the updates are failed.

1. Verify the patch is downloaded and successfully distributed to the distribution point
2. Check UpdatesDeployment.log to see if there any useful info.
3. Check if there any anti-malware software installed on the client computer, they may block the update downloading.
