IIS log file compression

Hi

I have tried to create a folder where compression is enabled on it's own disk.

The disk is 30GB, but when I save on it, it runs full with less than 30GB uncompressed log files.

Microsoft suggested this to be the way to save log file without use alot of space, but I cannot get it to work.

How can this happen? and what to do?

Regards

Henning

    Hi

    Thanks for replying.

No I made a new drive only for this purpose to store logs.

First i made the drive as a compressed drive but it behaved not as I expected as after I copied 20 GB uncompressed to the drive it says it was compress to about 8GB but the drive said it was full and show 29,7GB. Then I reformated the drive at made it normal bur the folder compressed to see if that made any difference. And it didnot.

So now my question why can I only store 8GB on a 30GB disk what is all the rest if disk space used for.

I was hoping that I could use all 30GB and not have a over head like this.

My hope is I am doing somthing wrong, but what, as it is quit simple to enable compression.

    Hope this explains better.

    Regards

    Henning
