It is so sad to see that since Windows 7 this problem exists and nothing has been done about it. Please, Microsoft, you can do better!
I installed Windows 11 because the Automatic Update requested to do so and after the installation WOL behavior returned to what is described in the above article. WOL works fine, but the computer goes to sleep again after about 2 minutes, even if the system has activity, in this case it is meanly viewing video on TV over ethernet (via DLNA or file browsing) . The system is certainly not 'idle'. Hence, waking up the computer via the keyboard works fine and viewing video on TV from that point on is OK.
I applied the solution described in the article above by setting value '0' in these registry keys (as I did already in Windows 10) and after a reboot all works fine again. But that is only a rude solution. In fact it disables a function within Windows 11 that fails to work correctly ... again.
My remark on this: if Windows is not capable of detecting correctly the status of the system, then better leave it up to the user and keep the system running. Or ... this is a bug in Windows, then please, solve this for once and forever.
Thnak you!
