How to fix missing api-ms-win-core-file-l1-2-2.dll error while launching Wolfenstein: The New Order?

I got the game Wolfenstein: The New Order on Epic Games, and wanted to play it, but I am getting this error:

System Error: The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-file-l1-2-2.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this.

I tried reinstalling the game, verifying the game files, installing all pending updates of Windows 8.1 and contacting Bethesda Support but to no avail. Bethesda Support said that it might be a system issue. How can I fix this?

My pc specs:

Windows 8.1

Intel Core i3-5005U 2.00GHz

8 GB RAM

Intel HD 5500 Graphics

512 GB HDD

Windows for business | Windows Client for IT Pros | User experience | Other
