My company changed domains and in order to change the domain desktop support created a new profile. Since the change, I cannot see all of the programs under Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio. What can I do to restore these?

    Hello there,

Are you facing this issue for all users profile or only to specific user profile?

If just individual programs disappear, you can choose to fix this problem manually. First find the running file of the specific program, create a shortcut, and then paste it under the path of "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs".

This article provides help to solve an issue where profile loading fails when the ntuser.dat or usrclass.dat file is defined as read-only, or the profile user lacks the appropriate permissions for these two .dat files. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/user-profiles-and-logon/desktop-location-unavailable

Hope this resolves your Query !!
