Azure Database Migration Service (classic) - SQL Server scenarios will not be supported after 15 March 2026. Beginning 01 August 2023, you will no longer be able to create new Database Migration Service (classic) resource for SQL Server scenarios. However, resources created before that date will continue to be supported through 15 March 2026.

If you’re currently using the Azure Database Migration Service (classic) for migrating to Azure SQL database services – SQL server on Azure Virtual Machine, Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL DB, access Azure Database Migration Service through the Azure Portal or leverage Azure SQL migration extension for Azure Data Studio by 15 March 2026.

Note: Azure Database Migration Service (classic) scenarios for other technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB are out of scope of this retirement.
