I hope you can help. I have a hosted server with 2 NICs one NIC is active the other not. We RDP into the server on its public IP to work on it. The client now wants a VPN connection from the server to their office. A VPN connection from the server to the Mikrotik router on site was set up and all is working as it should, no problems there. The problem we have now is that we can no longer connect with remote desktop from outside the VPN as the public IP is no longer accessible. Only computers on the VPN network can access the server with remote desktop.

IF I activate the second NIC and have it have its own public IP can I have the VPN connection only use NIC 1 for VPN traffic and NIC 2 with its own public IP can be used for remote desktop from outside.

    Hello there

What you are asking is called "Split DNS" or "Split Tunneling". The VPN appliance must support this OR you can manually enter the IP address and hostname information into your hosts file.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
