Malfunctioning NumericUpDown tools

My NumericUpDown entries behave differently on the same form. All have one decimal point. ,Net Framwork 4.7.2 in VS/VB 2019 Pro. Some take direct entry (i.e. "2.3" typed in directly works). The others either quit with the first digit (entering a "1" immediately displays "1.0" and then tries to add the next digit before the "1") and when you try to enter another digit or the decimal point, it immediately jumps to displaying the Maximum value setting. All of these NumericUpDown entries have exactly the same property settings (except of course the names and positions and tab indexes). Why are some of them misbehaving?

What same relevant properties did you set and did you also add some event handlers?

Is it possible to share a sample project (OneDrive, GitHub, etc.)?

I had some event handlers for the malfunctioning numericupdown items but I deleted them all. also i have deleted and created new ones in their place and renamed them the same, and set the properties the same, but they still act wrong, and this was even after doing an update.

to share the project i would need to break it down to leave the one example since this is a protected product i sell. i could do it in maybe an hour's work though. i never use onedrive or github so i don't know how to use them.

Please update your Visual Studio with Visual Studio Installer and create a new project to add the NumericUpDown control.

Then, check if it displays normally in this new project.

Besides, please check the DecimalPlaces property.

the numericupdown did work correctly in a new project. i had already done the visual studio updater but it didn't help in my existing project. how can i fix my existing project?

also, the test is not conclusive since some of the numericupdown tools work OK in my existing project while others do not, even with both good and bad on the same form.

You can close all running VS processes in the task manager and delete the hidden .vs folder in your project folder.

I ended one process I found in task manager that had to do with VS, and I deleted the .vs subdirectory from my project. Then I restarted VS and loaded my solution. When I tried to run the project in debug mode, I was informed that I had a problem, something about "Just My Code", and I was given four options. I didn't want to quit the debug mode so I think I chose the "ignore Just My Code and continue" option. It was WORSE. Now when I try to change the numericupdown item value, it always reverts back to the value it had. I restored the .VS subdirectory but it did not help. Fortunately that was a copy of my project, so I still have the (mostly) working copy I am using at the moment.

I would like to at least restore the "now screwed up" copy of my project because I was pursuing a different idea in that one. Is that possible?
