Cannot login to Azure Open AI Studio after creating an Open AI Resource (whitelisted subscription)

My subscription was whitelisted for the Azure Open AI service and I was able to create a resource. However, I cannot log in to Azure Open AI Studio - when clicking on "Go to Azure OpenAI Studio", I get the following error message from SSO:

Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Azure Pass' and cannot access the application 'dc807dec-d211-4b3f-bc8a-43b3443c4874' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.

The resource is there, and I can obtain keys and endpoints, but without access to Open AI Studio I cannot configure anything of consequence, and thus cannot actually use the service.
