So: I have set up the following as an example:

As you can see, I have created a few terms in the termstore. Also a SharePoint Online document library with two columns called "City" and "House/Apartment/Basement". These are set as managed metadata and take the data directly from the term group "Houses".

Now what I need to solve: I would like it so that if I select, for example, the city "Chicago" in the first column, I can only select the houses/apartments/basements from "Chicago" in the second column.

I am looking forward to ideas and suggestions for solutions.

    Hi @Manuel Hambloch ,

You want to set managed metadata columns based on selected managed metadata ,display the terms below the selected first-level term .Do not display other first-level terms, etc.

I am a technical support engineer who focuses on SharePoint, and there is no way to realize this function from the SharePoint level. After my internal and external search, I found that maybe it can be achieved using Power Apps, please refer to this thread:

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Setting-managed-metadata-columns-based-on-selected-managed/td-p/637698

So we suggest you start a new discussion in the Power Apps Community on this issue so that you can get more professional help, there will be very professional people to tell you the steps on how to realize this function.

Hope the information can help you. And if there have any unclear or misunderstanding, please feel free to post back and we’ll continue to help you all the time!

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated! Hope you have a good day and keep safe!
